UN 2023 WATER CONFERENCE
International Pesticide Standard Alliance
UN 2023 WATER CONFERENCE
With the keynote speech from the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Mr. João Paulo Ribeiro Capobianco, at the UN Water Conference official side event, influential researchers and institutions from around the world convened to address the critical issue of pesticides and their impact on water and public health. Their discussions centered on the creation of the International Pesticides Standards Alliance (IPSA). This global alliance aims to advocate for a new international regulatory framework for pesticides within the scope of the United Nations. IPSA’s primary objective is to prohibit the use of Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs), substances proven harmful to both the environment and human health. By doing so, IPSA seeks to mitigate the devastating impact of these products on millions of people and living organisms worldwide.
